Lad at the very back is Alf Edwards and think thats his brother Jimmy at the front wearing the hat.

The lad with the checked shirt on is wearing what we used to call a "cricket belt"; how long since I've seen one of those!

We ued to call those belts snake belts because of the snake shaped hook fastener, every little shop sold them in the 60s, have not seen one for years.

We used to call them Waspies...probably could be worn if you had a waspie waist.

If any of these lads' were born prior to September ,1939, they will be looking forward, probably with apprehension, at a stint in national service. If not, they will just about miss it.

Dougie you are probably right although the lad does have a resemblance to Keith who I think was from stubshaw.

I would still like to know the other two at the side of Danny, they could be his mates and not from Downall Green

Jimmy and alf Edwards was good boxers in their younger days.
