A poor map for detail, but shows a second colliery in Platt Bridge named Low Hall. It was situated at the bottom of what became Church Road, and roughly where St. Nats church now stands. It was joined to the other colliery by lines under the Wigan Manchester main line. Liverpool Road runs under the line in front of Platt Bridge station.

Tom, the first Low Hall pits were sunk around 1850 by the Moss Hall Coal Co. Low Hall No1 was, as you say, close to St Nats church. There were 8 shafts altogether including Brookside Colls two shafts, these were known as Low Hall No7 and 8.
One of the Brookside shafts (New Zealand pit) was were Dorothy, the colliery engine fell into the shaft.
I've spotted 2 more shafts in Platt Bridge as well, Johnsons pit and Whites pit.
