I only know two lads on this picture,Graham Smith and Pey heyes, later to become the longest ever drummer at Platt Bridge Labour Club.perhaps some out there can put a name to the other lad.In the background are the outbuildings of the Inn,I was told that years ago these were stables but Geoff Gaskel would have to comfirm that, the shop behind was Haworths chippy, one of ten chippys that I can remember in Platt Bridge over the years, the ball Peys holding looks like a size six cassie, that was a proper ball, you did;nt head them if they were wet.the chippy later became Helens Florists.

We only moved to Platt Bridge in 1971 but I knew Peter Heyes and his wife.I worked at The Platt Bridge Inn 1977-1981 and they used to go in and chat to my Mam and Dad. Peter's mother went in too.I remember some shops across the road from that time.....Droney's, (who can ever forget Droney's?!), Brown's Wallpaper Shop amd Josie's Toffee-Shop, which I think was also an off-licence.

Good photo John. I remember Graham and Pey but not the other lad. You are right directly behind them is the stables belonging the Inn.. they were enough for six horses and later Dad and I converted them into a garage with an entrance from the back.
The other end of the wall was an accommodation block for coachmen, probably used in the l800's. The only horse and cart in my time there was Bill Tracy the rag and bone man who tethered it in the yard whilst he got blotto and then drove it home to Hindleyn
