Seeing the name Destin jogged my memory and it occurred to me that I haven't heard that surname since I was a lad at St. George's junior school which is long ago than I care to remember. Is it a name peculiar to Wigan or the Scholes/Whelley area. Out of curiosity I looked in the local telephone directory and there is no-one of that name currently listed.
The reason you can't find the name Destin in the phone book was the fact that John's name was Osbaldestin.He lived opposite me in Bolton street
