I have just noticed the window cleaners ladder leaning on Brooks shop this will have belonged to the chap who did most of the town centre windows he was named Maurice, a real jolly fellow he had a turn of phrase that always made us laugh

Remember the chap you mean, Gerry. He always wore a leather trilby.

I just noticed also that it says CLOSING DOWN SALE in Brooks window this must have been 1969 because it did close down and we went to work in Peter Pells across the road the manager of Brooks was a chap named Cockburn from Euxton we had to call him COBURN but never did (snigger) when I started there straight from school he told me I must have a suit and a watch, my dad lent me his timex my mam bought me a suit from oxleys for eight quid. it was made of raggy arse wool every five minutes I had to nip in the toilet drop my pants and have a reet good scratch it were 'orrible one of the first things I bought now that I had an income was a made to measure suit with my staff discount Ah !!! Bliss no more itching legs..
