From the age of 12 to 16 I spent more time in the Daw than I spent at home,in the winter time we all used to sit on the pipes like a row of Shepies to keep warm with a 2d spare cig and a bottle of 4d vimto,great days.

I think we used to call it the "Dawl," an abbreviation for billiard hall. For me, it was an easy destination to get to, me not living in Platt Bridge. It was, from what I can remember, a bit dingy inside but the atmosphere was convivial, some great friendships were made there, sadly, lost over the years.
