Great photo, my aunt worked here when it was a sowing place! Cant believe the number of houses they managed to squeeze on this site after it was demolished.

This was where I was brought up, it looks so sad in that atate, where the demolition is opposite, was where my Aunty Nan & her family lived.

This picture brings back memories of the worst dinners I have ever had in my life.We all used to march down in two,s from St.Nats I can still hear the sound of clogs and shoes clattering on the bare floorboards as we all marched in,the smell of bleach and soap was overpowerind, all I could eat was the rice pudding with a big blob of jam in the middle, but what could you expect for half a doller a week,After a while I started leaving my dish at Haworths chippy for a 5d mixture.Nevertheless happy days.

I went to church there every Sunday and Sunday school in the afternoon Also had school dinners, and loved them, you don't know what you missed until you come to another country and have to give your kids sandwiches every day

John Bailey, I am so pleased that you mentioned 'a mixture' from the chippy. I take it you are referring to chips and peas. I loved a wet mixture with scratchings from Lily Ricketts chippy. Nobody seems to know what a mixture is these days.
