"Jannock" seems to have been the same word as Scottish "bannock" and meant an unleavened oatmeal loaf cooked slowly in a cool oven, or at the bottom of an oven in which something else was cooking. My Lancashire father referred to Scots pancakes rather derisively as "bannocks" till one of my Scottish great aunts lost patience with him and cooked him a real bannock which she made him eat in its entirety. It was huge.
