Yes, the engine is usually run daily, at specific times.

Build by J.E. Wood from Bolton in 1907, these twin tandem horizontal expansion engines worked hard, driving thousands of spindles and electricity for the mill until the late 1960s. The engine is owned by Wigan Council and are fully restored. The engine has two cylinders, the one at the right side of the flywheel is Helen and her sister on the left is Rina. They produce 2,500hp and drive a 26ft flywheel weighing 70 tonnes...more power than 8 HGV trucks put together.
