Pennington local builder and owner of the red sandstone quarry in Skitters Wood. He built the mock tudor and sandstone houses on Liverpool Road and Wigan Road dring the late 1800's I understand.

There really used to be the "jack of all trades". My hubby of 41 years was one in his earlier days, but of course these days one has to have 20 different tradespeople to build a house. And half the time they still cant get it right!

I think that this is the man who built my house and others on Wigan and Liverpool Road? His name and others are on my deeds. I think that his sone went on to build one of the presidents residences in America?

I have often wondered why the houses that Mr Pennington built were made of sandstone. Now I understand as he owned the sndstone quarry in Skitters Woods!
