The Wheatsheaf pub and the J.B.Almond Brewery were both demolished in May 1985, although the pub closed in Nov. 1982.

It was knocked down later than that. I was still working there in 1985.

We used to get off the bus at Almonds brewery on the way home from Shevvy comp school. With a good imagination you can still smell the beer brewing.

do any of you older poeple in standish remember my wife hilda lowe, she lived at 6 school lane next to the brewery in the sixties.
