Some great pictures there Paul. Platt Bridge is very different from when I lived there in the early 70s

Wanner, No, my name is Brown. I lived in Warrington rd, then Walthew lane, until around 1984.
My missus lived at 112 Walthew lane until 1984.

Hi Les,can understand what you mean about the 'Vic'. It's a terrific building with loads of character. It's a pity that it has been left to get in the state it's in now. Sad that no one has sought to bring it back to it's former glory. That said, the days of the local pub are almost over, unless it's a Wetherspoons.Borne out by only the King Billy survives, just about.Looking down from the Vic, across the road was the Liverpool Rd Co-op,corner of Whistley St.I was the bike order boy.'Billy'Halliday wqs the manager, two assistants at the time Eva ?,can't remember the other woman, who was a lot younger than Eva & Billy.Anyone remember these people? It's been boarded up for donkeys yrs. Think it was a launderette for a good few yrs. Also in this photo is Dr Duffy's surgery, corner of Davies St/Neville St.Finished at the Co-op in '63 when I left Moss Lane. Also on opposite corner the 'chippy'.I used to ride past the 'Vic'dreaming of the day I could go in for my first pint.Inside it had high ceilings/cornices,a superb building in every way.Hope it survives as a piece of Platt Bridge history & for sentimental sake.
