Wow!this photo brings back memories.I drove at the sugar works for ten years 1968-1978 was made redundant late 78.The wagon is a bulk liquid tanker.A scammell with gated gear change.Alf Briers also a driver, lived close by on Wentworth Road. The lorry was ex M&G London
Many drivers made redundant from Sankey Sugar from the late 70s included Alf Briers, started at Kwik Save distribution depot in Lockett road, Bryn. They was some great characters among them, I worked in the garage at that time and had some great times there. The drivers would often say how good Sankey Sugar was. Sadly, Kwik save too closed around 2004 and many made redundant. Kwik Save was a great company too, it was one big family from management to the yard cleaner, the best years of my working life.
Good photo Walt.
That brings back memories, i remember the laundry, must have been knocked down soon after this was taken, we used to play all round there.
I can still remember alf briers screaming down wentworth rd nipping home for a brew.
