Was this the piece of land where a service was conducted after walking day? I always remember the service used to end with the hymn 'The church is one foundation'.
I lived in lower morris street and use to play on the breyd at the back of our house.Once played on the swings in the back ground, fell off and knocked myself out.Only services i remember where on the market square.
I was born in one of the houses opposite to the breyd. Played there with my brother. By the heck it's grim.
st georges walking day used to have its service on there. i was born in school st in 1947 and used to play on the breyd until they built limefeild flats on it and we moved in there in about 1960
I remember the swings. Sometimes we would go and play around there. We went down there via the Scholes Picture House. The exit door was at the side. It was quite steep walking down to the swings.
