A cousin of mine on a stretch of land that everyone used to call the "breyd"(?). This was land behind the Scholes Picture House and was opposite the row of terraced houses in Lime Street where this lad lived.

Was this the piece of land where a service was conducted after walking day? I always remember the service used to end with the hymn 'The church is one foundation'.

I was born in one of the houses opposite to the breyd. Played there with my brother. By the heck it's grim.

I remember the swings. Sometimes we would go and play around there. We went down there via the Scholes Picture House. The exit door was at the side. It was quite steep walking down to the swings.
