MRs williams had the shop next to joe howards, also the labour hall pictures.any pictures of the labour hall or the club please.thanks RON.
Do I take it that the photo was taken at the bus stop looking towards Platt Lane on the right hand side? With the furniture shop to the right hand side just out of view. As it looks like the view as if I was waiting of the bus going into Wigan.
You are almost certainly right about the location, Dorothy. The furniture shop was McCurdy's and further down was Mrs Leigh, then a branch of Price's bakers. Can't remember what came next until Sherrington's ironmongers which was on the corner of Scholes and Schofield Lane with display windows on both streets.
A Greenhalls pub, too.
Another great photo evoking so many happy memories of my childhood and teens in Scholes. The shop on the corner of Molyneux St was Joe and Paula Howards hardware shop with Woods newsagents a little futher up before coming to Mint Court where my Dad's family (Hankin's)lived at Mint Cottage. My Grandda ernie Hankin had a shop on the right hand side further up than Jessie Connors.
Hello. I've just recently moved in to this pub. I'm trying to do some research in the place as I am very intrigued. Can anyone tell me anything about it? I've heard it used to be a hotel. Thank you for your time.
