They should used the stocks today, they'll sort out the yobs without a dout. It would make um think again.
i think the pub was named the black horse at that time
As you look at the pic the Black Bull is to the right and behind you, as you look at the pic. On the left I think is the Lychgate.

Pub on the left, is definitely the black horse, now the Lychgate (Corpse gate)
The Black Bull would be opposite the right shoulde of the photographer.

My aunty Vi ( Aspey) lived 2nd house on the left.
lych gate pub was almonds ales spite row on right built to obscure view of church.
The houses on the right isn't Spite Row Mike, those houses are still there.Spite Row would have been on the left of the stocks, built on what is now the lawn in front of the church.
