THIS PICTURE SHOWS MRS BAILEY ,MY MAM, AND MRS GRIFFITHS,DAVIDS MAM , DAVID IS NOW SADLY DECEASED.THE DATE AND LOCATION ARE UNCLEAR, APART FROM BEING IN PLATT BRIDGE.I WOULD GUESS THE DATE TO BE AROUND 1950, BUT IT WOULD TAKE A TRUE PLATT BRIDGER TO PINPOINT THE LOCATION, BERT CONNER MIGHT KNOW, OR GORDON BROOKS,THEY ARE TWO RENOWNED MEMORY MEN.

I got it years ago in Smiths of Wigam, (not W H Smith), and it was a one-off, I think, just by amateurs. I don't know of any of Ince. When I used to write for Past Forward I sent in a letter asking if anyone had cine film put to video or dvd of Ince, but no joy. The only one I know of is the St. Williams one. I suppose not many people in Ince had cine-cameras then. I'll let you know if I come across any, Josie, and vice versa.

Hello Wanner, wouldn't have a clue about putting the video on youtube, and it's quite long, in two or three parts. I will see if my son can transfer it to dvd. Watch this space, though it may take some time. I would have thought Len Bailey would have had a copy, though. I also have a dvd transferred from video of St.Nat's walking days in the sixties, (may JUST go into 1970).

I remember the room above the Miners Hall Cinema it was hardly a billiard hall, there was just one table and if you found yourself in a corner you had to use a short cue nevertheless they were happy times!

I have only just seen these photos, is Gordon Brooks still around, I last saw him in 1958, I have been reading all the comments and names, blast from the past. I went to St. Nats. infants and juniors, Moggy Lane, boys brigade, until I did a runner early 1959, not really been back except for quick visits, would like a pint or two with most of them to talk about old times, happy days in Platt Whaz

Comment by: JOHN BAILEY on 13th June 2011 at 11:42
