It was so handy having a bank in Platt Bridge.....in fact there used to be two or three, didn't there? WHY do tehy have to change things in the name of so-called progress? I suppose we have to be glad the building is still there, (yet!), as the Post Office. Thanks for the memories, Dennis.

Did the autospares shop used to be Latimers greengrocers? What years did it trade? Does anyone have any info on Latimers?

Yes Latimers was where the car shop is. I worked at the Wigan shop and had just passed my driving test in 1970. Jack Latimer would send me out to all the branches when they were short staffed, I think the managers name at Platt Bridge was John, a small quiet bloke. Les Kendrick was the manager at Hindley, Sid at Ashton (he was the best to work for). There was Hindley Green, Pemberton, and of course Wigan where Mr Sutch was the boss.
