Market Hall, Indoors

What a sad photo, still I shall remember the Market Hall in the good days when it was bustling with noise & life.
Yes, it is Helen. I was a butchers boy at McAvoys, somewhere in there, in the 1960's...very sad now, and it had so much character..I had some good mates who worked in there and even met my wife (now ex) at a clothing stall called Evans.
I signed the petitions on several stalls in an attempt to prevent the demolition. I was home on leave from the Army. Very sad that the council didn't listen, but do they ever?
My school town, mr social life. You have spent £130 million taking it away. Other towns nearby have kept their history. Why?
I do hope the council change there mind and keep the current one instead of building a new shed at the top of Market Street at phenominal expense.
The existing building is a solid structure just in need of a major internal refurbishment to make it more attractive. I don't think the windows or the interior of the building has ever been cleaned since it was built, just walk around inside and look up. Some of the current stalls are shabby and more like jumble sales or a third world street market.
The clock tower once ignored now looks attractive and landmark in the town centre, criminal to demolish it.
