Just a bit of nostalgia. Got this walking day 1963, they were being given out, on the Green, by John Kenyon an LUT bus inspector. It's seen a lot of use.

I can remember getting on the Lancashire United 320 to go to my Auntie Edna's who lived in Haydock.

Good old 55 used to take me to school then take me home to billinge, mind you I'm glad I was not on the one that fell into brook around the corner,I think i must have been in school that day.
I used to be a driver on both the 55 & 56 routes, we operated from Atherton Depot.

The56 that went to the Huntsman in Haydock , the bus stop was in front of our house in Station Rd, going back to Ashton it was yards nearer the Stag, it only ran every hour , in1948 the bus fare was one and a half pence,
