Thanks janice, cracking pic i lived next door to this shop when we moved from elm ave in 80s, the surrounding buildings have not changed.

Janice , i am not old enough to remember Pye's having shop , but my earliest recollection is Joan and barbara Mellings parents having shop , did they take over from Pye's ?

Hiya Scott, Pye's moved into the shop in 1939 and when Jack Pye died there in 1967 aged 56yrs they moved out in 1968. Winnie was born in the shop. Someone had the shop for a short spell before Reggie Jones took it over around 1969 and then later it was owned by Melling's.

it was always called pyes shop even after his death & even to this day for all those who remember the shop.
