I particularly like this one because it also shows part of the long gone Platt Bridge train station. I can just remember it looking like this... I passed it everyday on my way to St. Nat's infant school.

Also... an ex-landlord was the father of my oldest friend, someone I have known since I was 5 years old. Jimmy Eatock passed away a few years ago. Strangely, even though I was born and raised in Platt Bridge, and lived there until I turned 35, I only ever went in there once.

I used to go in with my parents.Joe Greenwood used to play the piano and people would get up and give a song. Joe always had a pint of mild on top of the piano, and a cigarette with about an inch of ash on it in his mouth!Where do you live now, Dennis?

Always known to my dad has Tommy Farrimonds, he never called it the Victoria or Vic. Went to Wigan a couple of times on the train with my mother in the fifties, the entrance was at the side of the Victoria gates on the extreme right of the picture. Along the wall, then up a flight of wooden steps to the platform. Great picture Dennis.

Irene, I live in your old stamping ground, Ince, up Belle Green Lane way. I can see Rabbit Rock from my window. :-)

Tom, I have heard others call it Tommy Farrimond's as well. It has been a while since I was at that end of Platt Bridge, not sure how much things have changed.

What a fantastic photograph, it brings back so many memories. My grandma lived in Bank Street and we used to catch the train to Wigan from the station at the side of the pub. There was a chip shop to the left of the pub and almost opposite was a grocers, the people in there could add up huge lists of groceries in seconds, no calculators in those days. Just near the bridge was a cake shop and Stanley Road was to the left under the bridge, my uncle, Ronnie Ensor lived there.

I used to live in the pub between 1983-1987, my mum was Judy and step-dad was Tony. Lots of memories of there, especially as a young 13 year old girl going down to the cellar and not realising that all the footballers were getting showered - oops!!!!!

My nan and grandad Frank and Dorothy watkinson were landlord and landlady for many years before they left to run hindley hall golf club. I spent my early years there often often playing on the pinball machine thinking it was fantastic. They have both passed away now and if anyone has any pics of them in the vid I'd love to hear from you.

A Stunningly beautiful old fashioned public house that is special to me personally as both my parents had their own wedding reception here after getting married on Saturday the 7'th of October 1967 in Saint Nathaniel's church in church Street Plattbridge, Wigan, Lancashire and have been married 52'years in October 2019 my dear dad used to live at 1 eatock street with his sister's, brother and parents at the time of his wedding to my dear mum.
My mum was originally from Plattbridge and was born in 11 Hart street off Moss lane.my nan and her brothers and sisters and my great grandparents who lived in the House on the corner of woodcock drive on the same side of the street as Dr c a Xavier's practice is on the same street leading to woodcock drive.
Prior to my great grandparents living on the end house they once lived at 113 tram street, Plattbridge and also had an allotment in the same street many years before the modern house's were built nearby my great grandparents had 14 children altogether although sadly 4 passed away due to ill health at a very young age due to the period in which they lived because of lack of an NHS type Service and/or sufficient funds to help pay for a doctor's help as again
was because of the period at the time.
These facts were explained to myself as a teen-ager by my own mum,dad and grandparents of how life was back in the day!.🌹✊🕊️🙏🇬🇧💎😎👍
