I wholeheartedly agree with Irene's comments, a very atmospheric pic. I remember seeing a similar one a while ago, an engine, the early darkness, lights overhead & snow on the ground. Think that was also one of yours Mr Sutch.

Do you, Tom, or any ex-miners out there know which seam of coal was mined at Bickershaw Colliery in order to send coal to Fiddlers Ferry? This question is on behalf of a friend of mine. Hope someone can help.

Several seams were mined at Bickershaw over the years
For example Plodder,White and Black,Crombouke,Rams,Trencherbone,7 ft and 4ft hope this helps
