Wigan Album

I took this photo of Wellfield Hotel customers around 1960 in the pub's "Juke Box" room. Although I recognise a few faces I can only name the nearest who is Danny Molyneux (he has his back to the camera). The room had a juke box but also at weekends would have a live singer and pianist performing. In the "early" days of the pub circa 1956, I vividly remember a Skiffle Band (a la Lonnie Donegan) performing in the music room (situated at the other side of the pub) and then marching through the bar with their instruments (washboard included) to the juke box room to give another performance to a different "audience".
