Coach party from the Crispin Arms, Birkett Bank in 1950 about to set off for a day out. I can only offer two names, the person 3rd in from the left was the grandfather of my pal Eric Long, they owned a shop just inside the Ince boundary in Manchester Road, not too far away from Jack "To-morrow", the Chemist, with whom we as youngsters managed the odd game of cricket practice during the short break that was his lunch hour. Perhaps that's why things in his shop were so chaotic, but what a lovely man. Finally, extreme right we can just see Arthur Bibby, brother of Norman (who later became Wigan RL Chairman) they owned Clarington Haulage (and coaches) and it was their coach that was being used.

They famously placed an advert in the Wigan Obsrver

I had a mate Cyril Wilson who worked for them as a lad at that time.

Hi Catherine. Was you dad Don. We went out briefly in the mid 70's!! He was a really nice man. I met him in the Squirral pub in Horwich where I worked at the time. He bought me a lovely old English sheep dog called Ben. I then moved to jersey and had no further contact but always wondered what happened to him.
