Atherton Street/Harrogate Street taken from the top of Douglas House (5th Floor at the time of construction in 1960) The Gas Works can be seen in the middle ground with the old L&Y goods shed middle right.

Another great photo, Kevin, with St. James' Church and Thompson's warehouse in the right background. I think the warehouse was originally the Oldfield Brewery, and hence Oldfield St. in old Poolstock.
My mother in law lives in Douglas house and she has the same view and the only thing that is still recognisable is the square tower of St James church in the distance. everything else is completely changed.
