This was the Hesketh brothers ironmongers store on Manchester Road, Ince, at the corner of Carless Lane. Today they call them Hardware shops.
That's Hesketh's Hardware and Ironmongers' shop on Manchester Road, Higher Ince. It used to fascinate me in there. They has nails and screws in cardboard boxes and you bought them by weight, just a few if that's all you needed. The Hesketh brothers wore brown shop-coats and weighed out the nails on little scales and put them into paper bags. When The Doric Cinema (known to one and all as The Bug), closed down, the Heskeths used it as their store-room for large items and I remember going there with my much-older brother to collect some hardboard; there is something oddly creepy about a disused cinema or theatre and I remember being glad to get out and back onto the bustle of Ince Bar on a Saturday morning. There I go again with my memories....sorry!
I grew further down here,opposite the Wagon Works,loved it.Going to Ince Bar for any errands.x

You can just about see one of Heskeths brothers peeping through the door window, interested to know what's going on.
The store has been demolished many years ago.
