I believe this is a photo of Wigan carnival from the late 1920's. I stand to be corrected but is the procession coming down Wallgate (after the railway bridge)?

Is that the Wheatsheaf to the right, on the corner of Queen Street and Wallgate?

I've been put right thanks to Joe Thomas who has pointed out the pub is the Harp in Scholes.

I think joe Tnomas is right on a later submission, This is definitely Scholes. I pondered on what was the tall building top left. I now reckon it is McCurdy's store gable end

I think you are absolutely right about this being Scholes. What makes me think it is -is the window (behind the 3men). That was Ted Browns in the 50s and the window was on the side of Vauxhall Rd, brilliant observation! The more I look at it the more convinced I am. Thanks for a different view of Scholes!

Ps it even looks as if Ted Brown's wife is looking out of the window-she always wore a hat in the shop as well and the image has a hat on as well. Well done Keith!

You lot must be older than me, as I dont remember Vauxhall road when it looked like this, but when I first looked at this picture I thought it was looking up Darlington street towards Clarington Forge, we used to watch the carnival from here when we were kids
