This was the former Natwest bank on the corner of King Street and Wallgate. This picture was taken in 1991. It is now a bar.

Before it was a National Wesminster branch it was The District Bank,Mr.Swire was one of the last managers,before the takeover

Did many duties on this junction(point duty). One hour on, then one hour on Wallgate beat, and vice versa,late fifties,early sixties. On the opposite corner,in the early evening. Affable, and cheerful Bill, would be selling the local newspaper, outside the Minorca Hotel. A very steady,and easy going environment. How did they control the traffic there in 1991?

I don't know how many hours I spent on that doorstep,waiting for my wife, when we were courting.
