If I remember correctly. This is the street where the Regal Cinema was situated. Remember it being built in 1939,and I saw many, many films there,during the 40s and early 50s. The same family,Atherton's, owned the Scholes Cinema

The Regal was in Bryn St, Windleshaw st is the next st. The back of the Regal was in Windleshaw st :)a

Carol. The reason I remember Windleshaw Street. This is the Street where we used to queue up to go into the front of the cinema. It was cheaper than the back stalls.

my brother jimmy beckett and his wife marion have lived in that st for years number 38 .

Hi josie just researching the history of windleshaw Street and came across your comment about your dad Jimmy beckett and his wife Marion. My mum angela Carroll (hutchinson) knew them well. They were lovely people a big part of my love growing up I was sorry to here of the passing of your dad and sadly lost touch with Marion when I moved to hindley
