Colin, this photograph appears in a book that I have titled Manchester Road and Rail. The caption under it states that until 1929 Wigan had only single deck buses and that the bus in the picture, reg no.EK 7260 and fleet no.2 was one of many purchased between 1929-1931 for tramway replacement.

I think everyone did Helen...Note the way to Central Railway Station on Woolies building...hence station road.
