Customers spilling out onto Birkett Bank, after a pleasurable Sunday afternoon drinking session at the Crispin Arms in 1951. I know a few customers names, the gentleman extreme left was I believe a “Burgess” (there were quite a few of them who frequented this pub), 7th in from Left is Tommy Banks, next to him Norman? Rafferty (I think he used to keep greyhounds), next to him with white “muffler” and cap is I think Bill? Benson and 4th in from right, his head partly obscured is Jim? Priest. All of them lovely people. Next to the Crispin the house (behind the Burgess family member) was occupied by the Myers family, John and Helen Myers were around our ages, 10 to 12, and I think their parents were Robert and Jane Myers. Next was a shop, a haberdashery run by the Carringtons, Diane their daughter was again about our age. All of the buildings on this side of Birkett Bank have long since disappeared except for the Crispin which was re-built.
