A joy to see! Children had an innocence then that is being lost earlier and earlier in their lives now...sad.

Hi Irene you are correct. How many kids these days would spend hours peddling a car bike etc. up and down the street.
As you say the age of innocence has gone. All they want now is Computer games and mobile phones... A friend's 14 year old daughter has just run up a moble phone bill of over £200.00. She is now on a £10.00 month Pay as you go. Kids today lead very sad lives.

I used to have a little car just like the one on the far right of the pic... it was like a bit of old tin, sharp edges galore, think I inherited it from my older brother & sister. Do you remember the homemade carts that used to be all the rage, bits of wood, rope & pram wheels & no brakes ?!!

Comment by: irene roberts nee griffiths on 4th May 2010 at 17:55

Yes Helen, I had one , and we deliberately went down the cobbles on it going "aaaaahhhhh" so our voices would shake. Weren't we easily amused back then?!

I have some pram wheels from an old Silver Cross pram behind my shed ... I might just make a "Trolley" for the grand childer. or put it on e bay..

If this is 1932 the children are well dressed. No clogs or bare feet or ragged clothes. What are all the caps?
