I was stood around the corner at the entrance to John McCurdy Hall where the car containing the Queen drove in, i was 12 and at Thomas Linacre School

I was six at the time and stood at the top of Library Street with a school group from St John's Brick Kiln Lane. Funny in that I happened to be in the same spot very many years later when Ken Dodd road up Wallgate in a vintage car waving his tickling stick, he was opening a new shop in the Market Place, think it might have been Thornton's.
You don't see crowds like that anymore, not even for Royalty.
