During the last 50 years of Kitt Green, there have been many sporting personalities and achievements, here is just one of the many stories.
Picture shows Ted Slevin (left) with Huddesrfield skipper Tommy Smales examining the Wembley turf prior to the Challenge Cup final of 1962.
Ted who previuosly played for Wigan, worked in Bean Filling and gained many honours including representing Great Britain. Unfortunatly on this occasion he was on the losing side as Wakefield Trinity ran out winners 12pts - 6pts.

If I'm not mistaken, Huddersfield got their revenge a week later in the Top 4 play-off final at Odsal.

Didn't Ted also have The Bridgewater at Marsh Green during the '70s and '80s?

Yes to both.Huddersfield beat Wakefield 14pts to 5 the week after. Tommy Smales pictured scored a try that sealed the win. I remember it rained heavily. Wakefield if they won this match would have won all 4 cups.
