Number 7 attacks the grade from Bickershaw Colliery to the exchange sidings with 10 loaded MGRs. The summit was only just made and 10 loads were not attempted again that day. January 1983 when steam was used just one day per week.

A very dramatic and powerful photograph!

Sometime the early 70's a mate and I were wandering about around what we called Abram Sidings... and one of the driver stopped and gave us a ride on the foot-plate of a locomotive called Rodney... something that has always stuck with me.

Not some the H&S executive would smile upon these days.

Yes, it looks like Rodney, I know Rodney worked,Bickershaw Coll's and pre war it worked between Grammar pit, Grange pit & Scowcrofts,in Hindley & Hindley Green.Great photo's.E.T.
