Here we can see one of the shafts being prepared to accept the temporary headgear.These temporary headgears where left in place throughout the total shaft sinking procedure and the permanent koepe winding towers would be constructed around them at the same time as shaft sinking.
My Dad John or Jack as people called him worked at the sinking of the mine shaft before we emigrated to Australia in 1960
