attendant W.Crane and myself R,Crane ,electrician.Year 1940.
Another superb picture Ronald, it's a shame the current house is missing a roof and the whole three are being left to rot.
I am trying to trace the working lives of my grandfather and great-grandfather, who both worked here. Would it be possible to get in contact with yourself via email Ronald?
hello ron great pictures, any more like this my father billy banks worked in the no2 for 45 years he was a frame fitter/jobber,i also worked in the no1 as a lap carier
Thanks for the comment andrew.I remember William Lomax,he used to repair the steam engines. We called him Bill Lomax. He was there when the crosshead parted and the piston went through the wall The blast blew every window out of the place. My wife knew Olivr Lomax when she worked there.Good to hear from you.Ron.
I had a feeling you may fill some gaps in for me! Billy was my great-grandfather who passed away in 1963, his son Robert worked here up until the 1970's, then found a job working for Dorma in Mill 1. Olive died about 3 years ago. Would it be possible to exchange email addresses? Here is mine anyway Ron. andrewlomax23@hotmail.com
Think my cousin Fred Foster told me that our Granny Bradshaw ( nee Prescott ) started work in a mill with that name, maybe my Dad too. Has the building long gone ?
