Yes it is Harbens Mechanics Shop I recognise most of the men but sadly most of them will have died
I knew a manager chris thorpe of Huyton
He got a lift with the manager ( na neighbour) Goodwins
My dad was the secretary of the Nationalunion of Textile workers & he worked at Harben's late 1920s early 30s. We lived at Lowton, in a caravan
Thanks to whoever posted this picture. My grandfather, Thomas 'Tommy' Darbyshire, is in the picture, crouched (in flat cap) third from the right on the front row. He was fitter foreman. Does anyone know if his friend Billy Moss is in the picture?
Stephen I remember your Grandad Tommy very well.I also remember Billy Moss I have checked the photo but he dosent appear to be on it. I recall he always wore a hat rather than a cap. Regards Steve!
Back row 6th from the right as we look at the photo, looks like my uncle Jimmy Blackburn. He lived at 47 Bank St. Golborne, near the Royal, and then moved to Pennine Lane. Sadly, he died in 1976. His wife Agnes died in Sept.2011.
Jimmy was my mother's brother.
Yes Jim you are right it is your uncle Jimmy next to Danny Glynn and behind Jimmy Rowley all top blokes !
