Comment by: Tom on 19th September 2008 at 15:48

If they are all lit ,then it's not a Newton Heath set.

Do I spy white socks and slip on shoes here?
Always the sign of a Thrash Merchant that (ie, someone who likes to give his power a bit of whelly!)

DMU,s invited many a pretty girl to the cab to impress and got many a date afterwards. Now they were the good old days. Was a Jeans man myself, until BR clamped down on us wearing our itchy uniforms.

re toms comment about if all the lights are lit it is not a Newton Heath set not totaly true some times at the week end you may have had 3 or 4 sets coupled to gether with only 2 engines running but all the lights would still be lit.

Colin was my Shunting school instructor in June 1998. Other starters I remember were :-
Vinny Bailey -now driver with f'liner @earles.
Steve ? - went to Crewe diesel as a fitter.
Darren Rook - Carlisle
Ian Beal -Carlisle.
Another lad and two lads who were to be the last to be Trainmen also from Carlisle - one of them used to play the drums IIRC.

Remembered - Steve Murray was the lad who went to Crewe diesel depot as a fitter! I wonder if he is still there?
