This engine is now in a museum in preston.
Warrior was one of the last two operational steam locomotives at Bickershaw colliery .Unfortunately, when the last rites for steam at the colliery were taking place in 1982/83 because both of the diesels were broken down,Warrior was sadly unable to play a part due to problems with its big end bearings.
It was intended to repair the engine and all the necessary parts had been obtained but for some reason the work was started but never completed and the last working steam loco was No.7 which was subsequently purchased for use on the East Lancashire Railway after the decision had been made to discontinue with the internal rail system at Bickershaw.
Hope the information is of use and congratulations on another great picture from yesteryear. What a great pity that such locations with their splendid little workhorse locomotives no longer exist, there can be little doubt that our country is much the poorer for it.
Its actually Respite thats at Preston. I think Warrior went to the Dean Forrest.
