Hi Arthur,we meet again.I remember many a time going down the Drift mine.It brings back memories.

I worked at John pit when they drove a connecting tunnel through to Standish Hall Drift mine in 1954.
They took the mines cars away and we installed a conveyor belt in its place, I remember we used to ride up on the belts at the end of the shift. I always tell people that I could not see for 5 mins when we arrived on the surface in the bright sunshine in such a lovely wood

Hi Arthur, Yes I worked with Bob , and was a friend of his until he sadly died about 6 years ago. I think you worked with George Woosey the electrican . I have many good memories of those early days. Now live year Southampton

Peter, you'll probably remember the Culshaw brothers..Electric shop. I'm the younger one, Denis died about 20 years ago. My ma is on the first pic in the mining thread, the one you comented on ;o)
