I once got paid 4 hours overtime playing cards in the control link cabin which any old branch-er will remember, The card school never stopped, when one chap had to go out on duty another one was waiting to take his place, The control link was for spare drivers who were there just in case anyone didn't turn up for duty, or who where held up for any other reason. I wonder how many people remember Tim Pey, he would expect you to play cards with him while you where driving along, In my day we called the game myth, but happy memories
i must have had a good hand tom.thanks for reminding me that 35 years have just slipped away, and thanks for putting the photo on,although it,s not as interesting as the one of springs branch at night.
You wouldn't think that after leaving the railway he worked at Wigan Infirmary, his card hands stayed pretty good, 'cos he wheeled me into Theatre 6 in April 2006 for an emergency aneurism operation and then wheeled me back out three hours later...........He must have had a prial of bullets that day, 'cos the plan came together......Latics for Ever !
I bet i was either in that card school,or watching game, definitely be game of blob.Art alreet geoff
