I don't think there are as many as that in Wigan now.
when my Dad joined the Wigan police in 1947, he was the smallest, standing at just short of 6 ft tall! and, as another strange fact, was the only none catholic!
Bottom Row 3rd person from the right is Charlie Halliday.
Bottom Row 5th person from the right is Robert Julien (my late father)
Third Row, 8th from the left, directly behind Chief Constable Tom Pey: PC James Hargreaves later to become Inspector - Traffic 1949 - 1954
Wonderful to see some names put to the faces after over 80 years.
My Grandad is on the back row 4th from the left-Robert Harrison.
"was the only none catholic!"
Not so Linda......
I would love to know which one is Isaac Warburton my grandads uncle Ike.
sorry linda my dad tom rowland aka thosj was an inspector and a non catholic
My grandfather, Vincent Burns is on this image. 4th row back, number nine counting in from the right.
These days, there aren't that many policemen in the whole of Lancashire..
