Wigan Album

I was in the Ritz Cinema, during the war. I was only a school boy, with my mum and dad. Suddenly it flashed on the screen, that the Italians had surrendered. There was one tremendous cheer from the audience. How happy they were. The war was going our way.

Many vatiety acts at the Ritz in late 50's early 60's as i recall.
Two acts i saw and provide some of my greatest memories were BUDDY HOLLY AND THE CRICKETS,suported by Des O'connor,and THE BEATLES.Anyone out there who saw these two acts

I saw the Beatles there. My mum queued for the tickets and Miss Holland who was head teacher at WGHS walked along the line and sent any girls from school back to school before they could get tickets----gutted!!!!!!
