Superb photograph..I didn't realise you worked in the mines prior to you being a buthcher...
As children living on Lilac Grove, we would spend most of our free time playing on the remains of the pit. In the 60s the slag heap (called the Grey Hills) still remained, together with the cinder track bed which crossed the site
