Wigan Album

The engine as built by Walker Bros. in 1881, originally had a single winding drum but this had been rebuilt by them in 1936/37 to have two separate drums with the brakes in the middle, each of which could be connected manually by a multi-tooth clutch to the driving shaft. Normally both worked together.
