I seem to remember years ago in my childhood, a man on foot or a bike, collected money at our house from Royal London. It went on for years. It was only pennies though, I remember my name being in the book. I would love to know what happened to the money!

Veronica I think? there is a web site where you can check on any unclaimed policies? Maybe someone has more details?

Veronica, I think most of the old penny policies were whole life so payable on the death of the life assured. It will have been cashed in and a surrender value paid to the proposer. You could try the Royal London Insurance Society, Finsbury Square London they will still have the agents books with all the details.

My mother died in 1986, unexpectedly, I don't remember seeing an Insurance book at the time. It may be worth looking into though Peter, thank you.
