The interior of Index was all still there, except the catalog counters. There must have been 3 million strip lights stored in the back stores (which were 4x the size of the retail space.)

That was a nice store Paula with massive storage, sadly now derelict I think this store was once the co-op.

The stock room was massive compared with the sales floor, when I worked there only part of the catalogue items were actually on display. Believe it or not it was actually often difficult to fit all the stock in the stockroom despite the size of it.

You're right David when Marketgate was completed the Co-op grocery moved into there with the electrical, furniture etc, being at the right hand side of the entrance area that was on Woodcock St.
