This L.U.T single deck Bristol bus is seen here
turning right from St Johns Lane and entering
Lime Street in Liverpool, on its return journey
to Wigan. You wait ages for a 320 bus to get
home to Wigan, and 3 turn up together.

Ray.
Am I right in thinking that the Arriva which took me from St Helens to Liverpool, last year, had come in from the right, and that the Bus Station is now situated beneath 'the white building'? One hour and twenty 'flippin' minutes the journey took - it did go through Knotty Ash, though.

Hi Ray, I'm more of a lorry man as you know but I find all these pics very interesting, a good bit of nostalgia and no doubt, reminds me of my 1960s days delivering Liverpool. cheers Ray.

Philip...Yes,I think that the final approach to the city
centre is via London Road, left onto Lime street. and then a right turn at this junction. During my 2 years on Ribble
in the late 1960s, the final 2 miles was via a strange route...From Kensington, into Jubilee Drive, Marmaduke Street, Mount Pleasant, Ranelagh Street, Church Street,
Lord Street, and terminate in South John Street. Thanks
to Philip & Walt for their comments. Ray

A bit of nostalgia from the 60's, but as far as buses in a row nothing has changed at that location. Today it's Stagecoach,Arriva,Halton Transport, and the city tours bus etc that now queue to access Queen Square bus station from Lime Street and visa versa.St.George's Hall can be seen on the right of the picture.

Ray. Many thanks for your kind and informative reply. I like the Bristol's livery by the way; It's 'not too loud and not too shy'.

I suspect a Vauxhall Viva is in order, so it's the late 1960s,

Howard..The L.U.T. bus was new in 1973.

The Lancashire United single deck bus, 416 TTB447M was actually new in 1974, and was one of ten Plaxton bodied Bristol RESLs, 414-423 TTB445-454M allocated at Hindley, Atherton and Swinton depots, but there was no TTB450M, that bus being VTC733M. All would later be repainted orange, and then in GMT orange, brown and white before withdrawal in 1985.
